September 01, 2020

Miami, Fla. – Citi has been recognized as the Best Corporate/Institutional Digital Bank in 14 countries by Global Finance magazine in the 21st annual "World's Best Digital Corporate/Institutional Banks in Latin America" competition. Citi received top awards in 24 out of 27 award categories in Latin America, with 14 country awards and 10 regional sub-categories.

Citi won the "Best Corporate/Institutional Digital Bank Award" in Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Mexico (Citibanamex).

Additionally, Citi received a total of 10 awards in the regional sub-categories of "Most Innovative Digital Bank," "Best Open Banking APIs," "Best Online Investment Management Services," "Best Online Cash Management Services," "Best Trade Finance Services," "Best Online Treasury Services," "Best Online Portal," "Best Mobile Adaptive Site," "Best Mobile Banking App" and "Best In Social Media Marketing and Services."

"Citi is committed more than ever to providing the best digital banking solutions to our clients to support their business needs. Our digital strategy focuses on delivering the power of our global network to our clients in an integrated environment to help optimize their global operating models and decision-making. Enriching the experience our clients enjoy while working with Citi is at the forefront of our priorities," said Steve Donovan, Latin America Regional Treasury and Trade Solutions Head. "Three years ago, we set ourselves the challenge to be recognized as the best digital bank in Latin America by our clients and industry influencers by the end of 2020. We are extremely honored to have been recognized by Global Finance, as this award affirms Citi's commitment to support our clients in the region as they respond to rapid market shifts."

Winners were chosen from entries evaluated by a world-class panel of judges at Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing. The editors of Global Finance were responsible for the final selection of all winners. Winning banks were selected based on the following criteria: strength of strategy for attracting and servicing digital customers, success in getting clients to use digital offerings, growth of digital customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from digital initiatives, and web/mobile site design and functionality. Category winners, such as Best Mobile Banking App were selected based on the relative strength and success of those web products and services.

"While we were already well on our way to achieving our digital banking goals, the demands of the current environment have turbocharged this effort. We have supported clients throughout this period as they adopt our full array of digital channels and tools at a rapid pace, including our CitiDirect BE® Mobile App, biometrics functionality, and digital payment initiation in the countries in which the products are offered," said Driss Temsamani, Latin America Regional Digital Channels and Data Head at Citi. "In just the last six months, we have seen a 45% increase in the number of digital banking platform activations. This highlights the importance in investing in digital banking innovation and solutions."

Citi is driving the digitization of transaction banking in Latin America and its digital solutions have helped clients to overcome financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last year, Citi has made significant enhancements to CitiDirect BE® and CitiConnect®, as well as launched multiple mobile solutions, in an effort to deliver value to clients through ease of use, real-time banking, digital security, data insights and AI.
