American Heart Association Wall Street Run & Heart Walk By Megan Adornato

On June 18, over 1,700 Citi colleagues took to the streets of lower Manhattan to participate in the 2014 American Heart Association Wall Street Run and Heart Walk. As the signature sponsor of this year's event, we challenged ourselves to outdo last year's impressive showing and we did not disappoint - we had 400 more participants than last year and once again Citi was the largest corporate participant. We also again surpassed our fundraising goal by raising more than $165,000.

Race day events began at Citi's 388 Greenwich St. office with a rally and speech from Don Callahan, Head of Operations and Technology and Citi's executive sponsor for our relationship with the American Heart Association. After team photos and a warm-up and stretch led by Citi fitness staff, employees headed down to the starting line to join 10,000 runners and walkers.

After the race, participants were able to walk through the tent area and visit the Citi sponsorship tent where they had the opportunity to speak with a dietitian from an area hospital. CitiBike representatives were also on hand to talk to participants about the benefits of bike riding, and show individuals how to use the CitiBike.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to support the health and wellbeing of our employees. Thank you to all of the individuals, teams and volunteers that participated and helped make the 2014 American Heart Association Wall Street Run & Heart Walk a success!
