Ernesto Torres Cantú

Ernesto Torres Cantú was appointed Citi’s Head of International in September 2023. He is a member of Citi’s Executive Management Team.

Ernesto drives the delivery of the full firm in over 150 International markets outside North America where Citi does business, to be the preeminent global partner for clients with cross-border needs and a global leader in wealth management. Ernesto is responsible for delivering excellence in risk and controls and has oversight of all legal entities across Citi’s International markets. In his role, Ernesto works in close partnership with all of Citi’s businesses and functions.  

Ernesto joined Citi as a corporate banker and has a 35-year career at the firm spanning a number of leadership roles. Most recently, Ernesto served for nearly four years as CEO of Citi Latin America. Under his leadership, Citi grew all of its businesses in Latin America and increased Citi’s leadership in the institutional business while maintaining a robust risk and control environment. From 2014 to 2019, Ernesto was CEO of Citibanamex and from 2012 to 2014, CEO of Citibanamex Consumer Banking.

Ernesto holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) and an M.B.A. from Georgia State University, Atlanta. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at ITESM.
