Founded in 1965, Citi Trinidad and Tobago provides financial solutions, advisory and merchant bank services to corporations, financial institutions and government.
The Trinidad hub includes the Bahamas and covers 24 un-branched Caribbean territories. The winner of numerous financial magazine awards, Citi Trinidad and Tobago is also recognized for its employees' contributions to United Way.
In 1965 Citibank began operating in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad as a 100% owned foreign bank.
1980
In 1980 the Government of Trinidad & Tobago requested all foreign banks to localize. All others left except Citibank.
1983
In 1983 Citibank signed an agreement with the Government of Trinidad & Tobago to form The United Bank of Trinidad & Tobago Limited, committing 51% of its shareholdings.
1987
In 1987 Citicorp Merchant Bank Limited was incorporated in Trinidad & Tobago.
1989
In 1989 United Bank's shares were repurchased by Citibank, and the bank renamed Citibank (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited.
2000
In 2000 Citicorp Merchant Bank Limited opened a marketing branch in Barbados.
2001
In 2001 Citibank (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited established a local corporate bank in the Bahamas.
2015
In 2015 Citicorp Merchant Bank Limited (Barbados) changed to a Part III license.
