Jewish Vocational Service Honors Citi with Corporate Partnership Award

Award recognizes Citi's commitment to JVS' BankWorksTM Program

Los Angeles, California – JVS, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit, this week presented Citibank with its 2010 Corporate Partnership Award to recognize the bank's strong commitment to JVS and the BankWorksTM job-training program.

Citibank has been a longtime supporter of JVS and BankWorksTM, providing financial contributions and volunteers to help participants through the innovative training program. Citi recently contributed $50,000 to JVS, which represents the second portion of a $100,000 contribution that it pledged in 2009.

Through the BankWorksTM eight-week class, JVS prepares clients for entry-level opportunities, such as bank tellers, as a first step on the career ladder in the financial services industry. Citibank's close partnership with BankWorksTM includes hiring graduates of the program, many of whom now work in its branches. BankWorksTM, which recently graduated its 15th class, boasts close to an 80 percent placement rate.

"Citi is proud to support JVS and BankWorksTM," said Lisa Deloney, the Executive Vice President for Citibank's Metro Southern California Division. "This innovative program provides crucial support for the community, helping individuals obtain the job skills and training they need to improve their lives."

"Today's challenging job market makes it even more critical that companies like Citi step up on every level, not only providing generous support but engaging directly in the communities where they do business. We are extremely proud to honor Citi with our prestigious Corporate Partnership Award," said JVS CEO Vivian B. Seigel.

"I am grateful for the support and opportunities that BankWorksTM has provided to me," said Mariana Jimenez, who recently joined Citibank. "Soon after graduating I began working at Citibank in a job that gives me the opportunity to build a career and make a better life for myself and my family."

JVS presented the award at its 13th Annual Strictly Business LA luncheon at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The event was hosted by Fox Channel 11 broadcaster Mark Thompson and the award was presented by Michael Lizarraga, Chief Executive Officer and President of TELACU Industries.
