History
Citi has been present in Romania since 1996 and provides high-quality financial products and services to national and international companies, small and middle enterprises, the public sector, non-profit organizations and individuals.
After more than 11 years of successful operations in Romania, Citibank Romania S.A., starting with January 1, 2009 was converted into a branch of Citibank Europe plc (CEP) based in Ireland.

We have 12 branches, through which we provide both consumer and corporate banking products and services.
Since our early establishment in Romania, we have dedicated to companies and financial institutions an exclusive mix of cash management, trade, securities and funds services capabilities; introducing innovative solutions for mass collections, internet banking transactions, trade finance projects and securities services.
We are proud to have assumed the leadership role in introducing the cash management concept in Romania (1997); introducing cash remittance countrywide through our partnership with local banks (1998); plus the launching of CitiDirect online banking, the state-of-the-art internet banking platform (2000). Also, we have been the first bank to implement the bar code technology for cash bill payments (2001); the first bank to collect university fees for major state universities (2003); the first bank who introduced the credit card with photo and signature (2008).
In October 2009, Citibank Romania launched the full-fledged retail offer and in June 2010, we launched the International Personal Bank, providing more global opportunities and professional investment advice to Romanian investors.
