| Citizenship History |
Citi New Zealand has supported the Kiwi Can Trust www.kiwican.co.nz in Auckland since 2004 with Citi Foundation grants worth US$100,000 (NZ$126,600). Kiwi Can is a life skills and values programme for primary school children in disadvantaged areas. In places where Kiwi Can has been running for some years, positive results have included increased levels of numeracy and literacy, reductions in school truancy, bullying and violence, and greater involvement by parents in the schools.
In 2007, Citi's support enabled two Kiwi Can coordinators to be based in one of Auckland's largest primary schools in Manurewa, and work once a week with each of the school's classes. In addition, as a Trustee of the Auckland Kiwi Can Trust, Citi Country Officer, Mark Fitzgerald, continued to support Kiwi Can's administration and fundraising activities.

| IBringing Back Native Birds To Motuihe Island |
Forty-nine Citi New Zealand volunteers including families and friends spent the company's 2007 Global Community Day on Motuihe Island, a nature reserve located in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf. This was the second year that Citi employees supported the project by helping to replant native trees and eliminate pests in a sanctuary for endangered birds.
| The Motuihe Island Restoration Project www.motuihe.org.nz was established in 2000 by members of the community in conjunction with the Department of Conservation. To date, over 138,000 native trees have been planted and many native birds are returning to the island. |
| In November 2007, the Citi volunteers potted over 2,050 seedlings and planted close to 430 trees. |

During Citi's 2007 Global Community Day, Citi volunteers potted over 2,050 seedlings that will be used to restore the natural habitat of a sanctuary for endangered birds.
| Ronnie Harrison, one of the project's permanent volunteers said, "Groups such as Citi's are the reason that such remarkable progress has been achieved so far." |
| The Department of Conservation is implementing a long-term monitoring programme to track conservation efforts, and Citi employees have pledged to continue their work on Motuihe Island. There are 50,000 seedlings in the nursery ready for planting in 2008. Citi Country Officer, Mark Fitzgerald, said, "Based on feedback from our volunteers, we are very keen to make this an annual project." |
